FHO Women's Fund Program
In 1985, Field Hockey Ontario (FHO) was incorporated. FHO is an amalgamation of Ontario Women's Field Hockey Association (OWFHA) and the Ontario Field Hockey Association (OFHA). At the point of amalgamation, OWHFA had $60,000 which was given to the new organization, FHO, to be kept for use in the promotion of women's field hockey in Ontario. Each year, FHO calls upon women across field hockey in Ontario to apply for funding to support the growth of the sport. Applicants considered can be players, coaches, officials and/or volunteers. The applicant may request financial assistance to cover field hockey course costs, training, camp levies, travel including air fare, conference fees etc. to further the development of women’s field hockey across Ontario.
This year, the worthy recipient of the 2018 FHO Women’s Fund Program Award is Melanie Simourd (pictured in blue on the far right). Melanie is from the Kingston area and started coaching in the Ontario U15 development program. She has a passion for the sport and has completed the Community Coaching Course bundle. We wish her continued success in her field hockey endeavours. Please join us as we congratulate Melanie, as well as the other applicants of the Women’s Fund Program. We thank each of you for your applications and for contributing to growing the sport in Ontario.
