For answers to frequently asked questions, please refer to our FAQ for more information.

Please see our website/FHO Calendar for our updated and final schedule for April trials. May, June, and July dates will be posted shortly.

Registrants: Please ensure you arrive 30 minutes before your first trial to allow for registration, receive your assigned pinnie number (to be returned to your coach after trials) and warm-up!

Important additional notes for trials:

Q: What are the Age Groups A: Field Hockey Ontario (“FHO”) teams will use these age groups for teams in 2018:

· Athletes born in 1995 or later should try out for U23 age group

· Athletes born in 2000 or later should try out for U18 age group

· Athletes born in 2003 or later should try out for U15 age group

Q: Do I have to trial with the regional team of the area I live in?

A: No, you can try out for whichever team you like, howeverFHO strongly encourages athletes to try out for the region they live in. Trainings will be held locally so it benefits the athlete to try out where you live. You can only try out for one team, it is up to you to decide which team to try out for.

Q: What should I bring to trials?

A: Dress warmly for the weather (the temperature in Toronto on Saturday April 14 is forecasted to be 3 degrees Celsius). Also bring your field hockey equipment: stick, mouth guard, turf shoes, shin guards, water, etc.

Q: Do I have to attend every trial session to be considered?

A: No, this is up to the coaches' discretion on each team, however, the likelihood of being selected for a team greatly increases with the number of trials you attend as your coaches will be able to see you play more. FHO encourages all athletes to attend all tryout sessions. If you will not be able to attend any of the trial sessions it is up to you to let your coach know you will not be attending. If you cannot attend the first trial session, please email info@fieldhockeyontario.com with the subject ‘Missing Trials’ and indicate which age group and region you are trying out for.

Please bring a dark (i.e., black) and light coloured shirt (i.e., white) for scrimmages.

A reminder to those who have not registered: registration is open for Provincial Outdoor Trials through the registration portal on the FHO website. Tryout Fee: $150 + HST (PAYMENT THROUGH FHO PORTAL). Late and on field registration will be subject to an extra charge of $25.00, totalling $175 + HST.
