In 1985, Field Hockey Ontario (FHO) was born out of a collective vision: to unite athletes, clubs, coaches, and communities across the province in their shared love for the game and into one strong, unified organization. Forty years later, that vision has blossomed into a powerful legacy—one that has shaped generations, inspired excellence, and put Ontario on the map as a leader in Canadian field hockey.

As we mark our 40th anniversary, we take this moment to reflect, celebrate, and look boldly toward the future. This year is more than just a milestone—it’s a movement.

To mark this historic year, FHO has unveiled a brand-new 40th anniversary logo, symbolizing four decades of resilience, unity, and passion. 

A Legacy Built on Passion and Purpose

From humble beginnings, FHO has grown into a thriving entity with partner clubs, schools and organizations stretched across Ontario. 

A record-breaking number of participants at provincial tryouts this year—the highest in the past decade. The hunger to represent Ontario has never been stronger, and the future of our sport is filled with promise.

A Celebration to Remember 

As we honour 40 years of Field Hockey Ontario, we recognize that our greatest achievements have always come from the strength of our community—the players, coaches, volunteers, parents, and partners who believe in something bigger than themselves.

In this last half of the year, our focus will turn to working to strengthen our position in our communities across Ontario to continue to provide strong leadership, programming and opportunities for the game to flourish.  Part of this work has already begun as we begin to roll out work on a new strategic plan to lead us into the future. Join us as we celebrate our joint accomplishment over the coming months.

A Call to Shape the Next 40

As we celebrate, we’re also listening. The launch of our Strategic Planning Survey invites every voice—athletes, coaches, parents, officials, alumni, and fans—to help chart the course for the next chapter. What should field hockey in Ontario look like in 2030? What legacy will you leave behind? 

Share your voice and feedback as we work together to find the best path to continue to move the sport forward in this province.
