Field Hockey Ontario is excited to introduce our Head Goalkeeper Coach for Team Ontario, Katy Williams! Katy will be working with Team Ontario Coaches and Goalkeepers to provide programming at the high performance level.

Katy, better known as KJ in the field hockey community, grew up playing field hockey in Burlington, Ontario. After first learning the sport in grade nine, she quickly developed a passion for it and began competing for Team Ontario shortly after. After finishing her high school career, she went on to win a national championship at the University of Toronto in 2010. She was credited an OUA All-Star and CIS All-Canadian in her final year competing at the University of Toronto. After a successful Indoor World Cup outing with the Canadian Women's Indoor Team in 2015, Katy headed overseas to Australia to compete in the state of Victoria's premier league with the Essendon Bombers. She was awarded “Best & Fairest” for her team that season and was selected to the Victoria Premier League All-Star Team, along with the Victoria State Team who competed and won a silver medal in the Australian Hockey League that year. Katy's accomplishments as a field hockey athlete include:

  • Canadian Women's Indoor Goalkeeper & Captain
  • Indoor World Cup Participant
  • Indoor Pan Am Cup Champion & Silver Medalist
  • 2x Indoor Pan Am Cup Goalkeeper of the Tournament
  • Indoor Pan American Elite Team
  • Australian Hockey League Silver Medalist
  • Hockey Victoria (AUS) Premier League All-Star Team
  • Essendon Bombers (AUS) Premier League Best & Fairest
  • CIS Champion, CIS All-Canadian
  • 3x OUA Champion, OUA All-Star

After moving back to Canada, Katy began assistant coaching with the McMaster Marauders–with the 2021 season being the team's first year playing in the OUA. In 2018, the International Hockey Federation selected Katy to sponsor her attendance at a High Performance Indoor Coaching Course held in Berlin, Germany during the 2018 Indoor World Cup. She continues to be an active member in the field hockey community–umpiring high school field hockey games, coaching at McMaster University and playing for the Indoor Women's National Team that will be competing at the Indoor World Cup in February 2022.
