Describe your career in Field Hockey:

I have been fortunate to have been involved in Field Hockey for more than 40 years as an athlete, coach, and administrator. I had the opportunity to represent Canada at the Olympic Games in 1984, 1988, and 1992. During my time with the National Team, I also competed at 4 World Championships winning a silver medal in 1983 and a bronze medal in 1986.

I led our National Junior Team from 1996-2001 and coached at two World Championships in 1997 and 2001. From 1994- 2001, I coached at the University of Waterloo. I have been given the opportunity to coach at every level in the sport and I am currently coaching at Appleby College in Oakville. I have been at Appleby for the past 20 years working with athletes from grade 7-12. Coaching in the school setting has provided me the opportunity to introduce the sport to many young girls and watch them develop over the years. No matter what age or level of athlete I am coaching, the most satisfying part for me is still seeing kids enjoy the game and compete.

This fall marked 20 years of working at Appleby College for Sharon who will be retiring at the end of the year.

Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your experience with the FHO Community. Now you know where Sharon is now!
