2020/2021 Membership Update

The 2020/2021 Membership Year for Field Hockey Ontario will soon be upon us! 

Here you will find the Fee Breakdown for this year as well as some additional information.

The new membership year officially begins on September 1st, 2020 as per usual, however, 2020/2021 Memberships will be available for purchase at a new rate on Monday, August 17th, 2020.

Field Hockey Canada has decided to waive the FHC portion of the 2020/2021 Membership for any members that purchased a 2019/2020 Membership between July 1st and August 16th, 2020 though the FHO portion and tax will still be applicable to the purchase of a new 2020/2021 Membership for those individuals. Therefore, as of September 1st, 2020, all 2019/2020 Club and Individual Memberships will expire and new 2020/2021 Memberships will be available.

Members who DID purchase a 2019/2020 Membership between July 1st and August 16th, 2020 will still be asked to purchase a new Membership for the 2020/2021 season through the designated section on our registration page to ensure they pay the appropriate fee.

All other memberships as of August 17th, 2020 are subject to the new membership fees as outlined above. 

Why has the FHO portion of my fees changed?

To help you understand why these fees have changed, please see the outline below that shows where the funds we receive from memberships are utilized.

1. PPE Equipment - In order to responsibly and safely return to training after COVID-19, FHO will incur additional expenditure on protective equipment that will be required at all FHO programming. This equipment will not be a one-time expense, as we will need to repurchase materials throughout the season as they are utilized. 

2. Member Recruitment and Grassroots Programming - FHO strives to increase membership and continue the growth of field hockey within our province. We aspire to target the younger athletes that may not have had the opportunity to participate in any field hockey related programs previously. In order to plan, develop and implement this type of programming, resources will need to be allocated in order to provide educational materials, compensation for program facilitators, equipment and permits fees. 

3. Administration - In addition to program specific expenses, FHO must consider the administrative expenses that are incurred annually. These include but are not limited to: membership management fees, website, domain and other digital software fees. 

4. Coaching and Officiating Educational Fees - As a key pillar of FHO’s strategic plan, the continued education and evaluation of coaches and officials across the province is a priority. Associated with these items are expenses such as course materials, compensation of qualified instructors and assessors, database management and facility rentals.
