Officials Database
FHO is building an officials database, starting with umpires; other trained technical officials will follow. This database will be stored on FHO's website so that moving forward there will be continuity of information. This will give FHO and clubs holding tournaments and leagues easy access to all the certified umpires in Ontario. This will benefit all umpires with more opportunities to work as the entire field hockey community will now know how to find you.
We will use this list to provide up to date information to umpires, invite umpires to tournaments and leagues, and to know when and where to provide appropriate umpiring courses.
With your help we will be able to serve you better.

FIH puts hold on Indoor Rule Changes

FHO Recommendation Regarding Implementation of the 2013 Rules of Hockey
FIH has made some significant changes to the Rules of Hockey 2013. These include, in brief:
- an “own goal” – any deflection inside the circle may be a goal, no longer requires the touch of an attacker, and
- relates to aerials – the ball may now be lifted from a dead ball; from a free hit, it does not have to move first.
FHO recommends that all Ontario teams implement the Rules of Hockey 2013 in accordance FHC's recommendations. The FIH rule changes will be implemented across Canada as of January 1st, 2013, with the following notable exceptions:
- CIS and Member University Associations (OUA, Canada West etc.) to implement the new rules for their 2012/13 season, effective September 1st, 2012
- Leagues beginning in 2012 and running into 2013 should look to prioritize consistency and either adopting the new rules for the entire 2012/13 season, or postpone the implementation until the 2013/14 season
