Junior Women Provincial League

 

 

 

This message is going out to Club representatives and other contacts who may have interest in organizing a Junior (U18) Women's team for the 2012 outdoor season. If you are not familiar with the League from past seasons, please feel free to contact me by e-mail or phone to discuss how this might work for your Club. The attached Info Sheet also provides details of the League based on past years experience, but we are exploring new options for this season. In order to grow Field Hockey in Ontario, it is our belief that the JWPL needs to play a more prominent role. Participation in the League will be strongly recommended for athletes looking to play on a provincial Junior team, and so there should be less conflict between Provincial Team training expectations and League games. Other thoughts that are being discussed are:
counting some May Meltdown games as League games using League games as selection opportunities  for athletes to Provincial teams using Junior Club Championship tournament as League playoffs for U18.

For Springfield and Toronto Women's FHA rep receiving this, please pass on to your member Clubs.  We hope some of these Clubs may be planning new Junior teams who could play in the JWPL.

Published Junior event dates for the 2012 season are:

May  26 - 28   FHO May Meltdown (Mississauga)

July 14  & 15  - CFHCC Tournament includes U14, U16, and U18  girls  Divisions (Mississauga)

July 18 - 22, U18 Nationals, in Calgary

August 8 - 12, U16 Nationals, in Vancouver

August 16 - 19,  Ontario Summer Games (U16), Toronto
